Time has passed but I’ve never forgotten my Dad’s smile and his laugh. Every Walk, in the corner of the pavilion, I “see” him proudly looking at his family and friends with his bright smile. I often think to myself, “See, Dad, I told you we would never forget you. We will go on year after year to celebrate you and your contribution to this world.” It is reinforced every year as we walk the Upper Saucon Township Park path to remember him and help others coping with IPF.
Throughout the years, we’ve received many e-mails and phone calls from families whose loved one is coping with IPF. Through the Wescoe Walk, we’ve touched and supported many people and their families dealing with this disease. Just like my Dad, we’ve made a difference in the world. Let’s continue on our journey for years to come and help the Wescoe family raise awareness of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
The rain is our friend, now. It wouldn’t be the same without it. On behalf of the Wescoe family, I’d like to thank everyone for trudging through the rain, splashing in the puddles, wiping those persistent rain drops from your cheek, shivering from the cold chill on your back to experience the warm feeling of remembering a good man and raise awareness for IPF. In 2009, we were able to raise over $1500 for Pulmonary
Fibrosis Foundation and Temple Lung Center. We are proud to be a part of something so special in our community. We are incredibly appreciative of businesses, schools and people who care and continue to help us from year to year, they are: Jill Brown (Jill Brown Studios), Fred Derby (Coopersburg Construction), TastyKake, Cedar Crest College nursing students, Temple University, Southern Lehigh cheerleaders, Weis Markets, Link Beverages, Starbucks and Stephanie Altieri (99.9 THE HAWK).
On Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 9.00am arrival and 9.29am kick off at Upper Saucon Township Park, we will add another year of helping others in our community. Come join us for another memorable morning. Please feel free to contact me at info@wescoewalk.org; 484.553.6340 for any questions. See you soon!
Warmest regards,
Jennifer Wescoe-Schaninger
